Town Hall added for Huntsville

TxDOT adds second "town hall" meeting for Huntsville
TxDOT conducted a "town hall" meeting in Huntsville on Jan. 23, but the space was too small for the several hundred folks who came by to hear from TxDOT officials about the Trans-Texas Corridor, Interstate 69, and other topics of interest. While the dialogue at this first meeting ran for nearly six hours, it was evident that others from the community wanted to speak with the TxDOT panelists.

So, a second "town hall," notable for the two-way format that saw the top-level leadership of the agency responding to direct questions from the audience, has been scheduled to return to the Huntsville area.

Here are the particulars: TxDOT Town Hall, Walker County Fairgrounds, Huntsville, Wednesday, Jan. 30. 5:30 pm sign-in and 6:30 pm Q&A session.

PLEASE NOTE: These "town halls" differ in format from the upcoming public hearings, most of which are set for February for communities along the proposed I-69 corridor. The "town halls" are less formal and provide for two-day dialogue among community members and TxDOT officials. In contrast, the public hearings are more formal and officials are required only to receive on-the-record comments from the public. Officals may not respond directly to any particular comment, suggestion, idea, criticism, or statement.

The schedule for all the "town hall" meetings AND for the public hearings can be seen on the website for Keep Texas Moving [ www.keeptexasmoving.com ]. While the formats differ between "town hall" meetings and the public hearings, community members are encouraged to attend both to express their views.
