January 28, 20087th Town Hall Meeting TONIGHT
Town Hall meeting in Bellville
It's Monday, Jan. 28, and we're traveling today to be in Bellville, TX, for this evening's town hall meeting at the Austin County Fairgrounds Building on State Highway 159 East. Doors open at 5:30; the questions and answers begin at 6:30 p.m.
Other "town halls" this week are scheduled for Victoria (Tuesday), a return trip to Huntsville (Wednesday), and Weslaco (Thursday). The meetings continue next week in Laredo and Robstown.
TxDOT officials from the higest level are meeting with community members having questions about the Trans-Texas Corridor, transportation finance, eminent domain and the legal processes in place protecting the interests of private-property owners in Texas.
These town halls have covered many topics, not least of which is a review of the many forces affecting today's transportation systems. Some forces in play today are expected to have even bigger effects in the future. The population of Texas is growing rapidly, and so are the costs of providing required infrastructure. It's what you might call a mixed blessing.
If you're free this evening, come on down to Bellville. It won't be dull.
