Central Texas Tolls Begin

05/16/2007

In addition the TxTag sticker and the cash payment option at toll booths, drivers will now be able to elect "open-road" tolls. Open–road tolls assess tolls in a monthly invoice to the vehicle's registered owner. Drivers using this option will not need to stop at toll booths along the route, but the cost will be about 33 percent over the basic cash rate.

The fastest and most cost–effective way to pay tolls remains the TxTag®:, a sticker mounted on a vehicle’s windshield that sends a signal to receivers along the tollway. With a tag, drivers can avoid toll booths, drive full speed, and can enter or exit ramps without stopping.

Tags are available by calling (888) 468–9824, visiting www.txtag.org, or visiting the customer service center at 12719 Burnet Road in Austin.
